Raising a Child

We can’t wait to become Dads. We both know that there is no greater gift we can give our child than our time, support and unconditional love.

Todd loves to design and build and is looking forward to creating block castles, pillow houses, forts in the back yard and creating amazing art projects with our child.

Mike is excited to share his love and compassion for animals and all living creatures, as well as his amazing culinary skills and unbelievable ability to make great dinners.

We want to raise our child in an environment that teaches love, acceptance and understanding of everyone on this planet regardless of race, religion or background. We cannot imagine a more valuable blessing and larger responsibility than raising a child.

Jobs & Interests

Our jobs offer the perfect scenario for raising a child. One of us will always be a STAY AT HOME DAD while the other is working which means more special times with our child!

Todd is an architect and builder and builds earth-friendly homes. His office is one mile from our house and he can’t wait to take a break from work several times a week to have lunch as a family.

Mike is a server at a restaurant close to our home and will work part-time only in the evenings so he can be home all day with our child.

Together in our spare time at home we like to spend time with our pets and garden in our yard. In the summers we always vacation at Mike’s parent’s lake house in New York. When we are there, we build camp fires, go tubing on the lake with our niece and nephew and visit the towns around the finger lakes.

Todd is an avid comic book collector and enjoys listening to a wide variety of music and drawing. One of his favorite pastimes is to put stuff together and fix things, including old houses, furniture, and computers.

Mike likes watching and playing sports, cooking for large amounts of people and reading. Mike always has several books going at once, and usually falls asleep with a book in hand.

Family & Friends

Family and friends play an important part in our lives. We are both lucky enough to be very close to our families.

Our child will have Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins on both sides of the family, in Atlanta, New York, and Maryland. Both of our families are excited about our decision to adopt and will play an active role in helping us raise our child. We have already set up a room for Mike’s mom to come and stay for several weeks once we have the new addition to our family.

We also have an amazing group of close friends in Atlanta, most who already have children. They all will be fantastic role models for our child and great support for us!

Our Home & Neighborhood

We live in the historic Old Fourth Ward in downtown Atlanta. Our neighborhood is part of a National Park and we are looking forward to sitting on our front porch swing with our child and waving to the park rangers.

Our community is incredibly diverse and filled with people of all ages, races and incomes. We have loved living for the past 7 years in a neighborhood where we are surrounded by so many friends and their children.

We have many things within walking distance. Several parks, ice cream and coffee shops, even the Georgia Aquarium! We spend a lot of time walking around our neighborhood visiting friends and taking the dogs on long walks.

We live on a quiet tree-lined street in a Victorian cottage that Todd designed and built with a white picket fence and rose garden in front and a large fenced yard in the back. We can’t wait to spend evenings out back, having picnics in the garden and playing on the jungle gym!
